Politics and British Government


 

We use many creative methods for the teaching of this course. This includes debates and group discussions.

 

What will I study?


You will study the following units over two years:


·         People & politics - democracy and political participations, party policies and ideas, elections and pressure groups.


·         Governing the UK - The British constitution, parliament, Prime Minister and cabinet, judges and civil liberties.


·         UK political issues - economic policy, social welfare, health and education and environmental policy.


·         EU political issues - Impact of EU on the UK European, integration, EU institutions and their relationships and domestic policy.


 


How is the course assessed?


100% written examinations. There is no course work.

Activities include:


·         Relevant trips and visits.


·         Guest speakers.


 


What could I do next?


Government and politics combine well with a range of social science and humanities subjects to lead to university courses in such areas as business, journalism and politics.
