Diversity Week At Edge Hill University
08 March 2010
Level 2 and 3 first year students, studying Health and Social Care at the Eccles Centre were invited to attend Diversity Week at Edge Hill University.
They attended a session run by Guide Dogs for the Blind, where they heard from trainers and also a service user. They met two guide dogs, Gretel and Delphy, and even got to be blindfolded and guided around an obstacle course by the dogs.
The students then attended a seminar from The Dark Horse Ventures – a company who work in a variety of settings from the elderly, to mental health and the homeless. They heard about the work done by the group and had a chance to ask questions and find out how to get involved.
After lunch the students were taken on a tour of the university and a look round the fantastic health faculty, one of the top health faculties in the UK.
The organiser was so impressed with the students that they have been invited to a future event at the Guide Dog Training Centre in Atherton.
