Textile Workshop For Buile Hill Students
09 July 2010
As part of the annual taster sessions which are held at all centres of Salford City College, students from Buile Hill High School recently visited the Eccles Sixth Form Centre for a special textile workshop.
The yearly tasters are a chance for school students to sample life at college and to get a sample of what studying their favourite subjects is like, at a higher level.
The Year 9 and 10 students from Buile Hill attended the textile workshop for a fantastic hands-on experience in manipulating textiles and creating their own sample piece.
Techniques such stitching, weaving and batik were demonstrated to the students, who then had free range to try the techniques for themselves and create a textile piece, inspired by various colourful photographs presented to them.
All the students had a great time in the workshop and thoroughly enjoyed their chance to try something new, as well as gaining an insight into life as a college student.
Photos from the workshop are available to view here: http://www.ecclescollege.ac.uk/gallery.aspx.
